After listening to the tragic stories of countless children who have gone through gender modification at childhood and are unable to completely regain their lives back through reverse surgery, we must keep Texas as a safe place for families to raise their children. If the State of Texas cannot entrust a minor to drive on the street until they turn 16 or to consume alcohol until they turn 21, we must keep gender modification or reassignments surgeries away from children in the State of Texas.
Texas is said to have the second highest reported human trafficking case within the United States, followed by California at the top. One thing that both states have in common is that they are states along international border lines. Our porous borders have unfortunately contributed sharply to this enterprise among other vices. We will support legislation that deters human trafficking and protect Texas borders lines.
We must continue to proactively attend to the security and the safety of our communities. We will support legislation that focuses on keeping crime in Texas to the barest minimum. While it may be impossible to completely eradicate crime, we will support funding of appropriate government agencies charged with the responsibility of protecting Texans while simultaneously tackling the root cause of crime in our communities.
While homeowners are primarily responsible for the payment of their property tax, some of these tax liabilities are indirectly passed on to renters. An increase in property tax generally results in an increase in rent cost. Increased property tax affects all Texan – directly or indirectly. For many Texans this increase in tax does not always translate to a corresponding increase in wages. We will support legislation to reform the property tax appraisal process to curb the ever-increasing property tax levied on Texans.
Parents’ choice of school or educational setting that best fits their children’s is sacred. Competition generally drives quality. We will support legislation that empowers parents to make this critical decision for their children and ensure that teachers and schools have the necessary funding to optimize their schools’ educational performance.
The health and mental health of Texas residents are crucial in fostering a thriving and resilient society. We will support legislation that assists Texans to have access to needed medical intervention and allocates resources to mental health services.
